¿Y mientras, que hacen los súbditos de su graciosa majestad?

Antes de 1834 se celebraban un total de 33 santos o fiestas religiosas, que se redujeron a 4 "Bank Holidays" o días en que hacen fiesta los "empleados de banca" y que resume las fiestas laborales:

Viernes Santo y Día de Navidad no se consideran "Bank Holidays" si no fiestas de derecho común.
El "Boxing Day" o Festividad de San Esteban al día siguiente de Navidad, si es una "Bank Holiday" y es fiesta como en muchos países del mundo (y como el Lunes de Pascua); igual que en Catalunya y alguna otra comunidad de España: pero no en las castellanas, que prefieren celebrar la vigilia de Navidad o Noche Buena (que le vamos a hacer...).
