RIMPAC 2014

Coronel Von Rohaut

The Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19)
transits San Diego Bay as it departs for Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC)
2014. Twenty-three nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more
than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in the biennial
RIMPAC exercise from June 26 to Aug. 1. RIMPAC will take place in and
around the Hawaiian Islands and San Diego.

RIMPAC 2014 will be the 24th exercise in the series and will take place from June 26 to August 1, with an opening reception scheduled for June 26 and closing reception August 1.[1]
For the first time, the Royal Norwegian Navy will actively participate in the exercise. Norway will send one Fridtjof Nansen-class frigate and possibly Norwegian marine special forces.[17] China has also been invited to send ships from their People's Liberation Army Navy; if China chooses to attend, it will mark not only the first time China will participate in a RIMPAC exercise, but also the first time China will participate in a large-scale United States-led naval drill.[18] On June 9, 2014, China confirmed it would be sending four ships to the exercise, a destroyer, frigate, supply ship, & hospital ship.[19][20]
